Portland is home to two golf courses that have been rated among the nation’s top 75 public courses and Portland golf courses have hosted the 2003 U.S. Women's Open as well as host to the fifth and final major championship on the Champions Tour. Portland Parks & Recreation owns and operates four of the many top quality public golf courses to be found in the beautiful city of Portland.

Portland Golf Courses can remain open year round. Portland's climate is temperate and seasonal. The average rainfall ranges between approximately 40 to 45 inches per year, keeping Portland's Golf Courses nice and green. Many golfers may not think of Portland as having a good golf climate, even though it lies in the Marine West Coast climate zone, Portland shows many characteristics of a Mediterranean climate. Portland golf courses can stay open during its mild yet wet winters. Ideal golf conditions occur during the warm, dry summers. The summer months (June through September) mark the driest period, averaging no more than one inch of rain per month.
